Bonnie Pointer of the Pointer Sisters has passed away earlier today at the age of 69.

TMZ reports Bonnie’s sudden passing was confirmed by her sister Anita: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of The Pointer Sisters that my sister, Bonnie died this morning. Our family is devastated, on behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time.” Bonnie was one of the original members of the Pointer Sisters but left the group to pursue a solo career during the 1970s. She is known for her cover of the hit song “Heaven Must Have Sent You.”

Bonnie was signed to Motown Records and produced numerous disco hits with three solo albums and earned a Grammy award for Best Vocal by a Duo or Group for the single “Fairytale.” She was married to Motown executive Jeffrey Bowen until their divorce in the early 2000s.
