UPDATE: Bodycam Footage Shows Cops Failed To Administer First Aid For 10 Minutes After Shooting Andre Hill
A few weeks ago we reported that Officer Adam Coy, a 19-year police veteran in Columbus, Ohio had fatally shot Andre Hill, an unarmed Black man, within ten seconds of encountering him. Now, additional bodycam footage shows that Coy and another officer failed to administer first aid for 10 minutes after shooting Hill.
In the horrifying footage, 47-year-old Hill is seen laying partly inside an open garage as police stand over him. Instead of checking his pulse or administering any first aid, the officers walk over and handcuff him and proceed to wait 10 minutes before doing chest compressions.

Explaining how the incident occurred, Coy reportedly saw Hill enter the open garage and asked him to come out. However, according to another cop on the scene, Coy did not command Hill to come out with his hands up. Instead, she says she saw Hill raise one hand with a cellphone in it and Coy screamed, “There’s a gun in his other hand, there’s a gun in his other hand.” Despite there being a gun in Hill’s other hand or anywhere else, Coy shot him. Aside from the police shooting, Coy and the other officer were penalized for not turning on their body cams before the shooting–a department policy violation. Coy has since been fired for this violation and failing to render first aid.
