Police body camera footage has been released from the shocking moment Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was viciously attacked with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home. The alleged attacker David DePape can be seen holding what in this case would be considered a weapon as cops approach the house and try to figure out what the commotion was about after being called to the scene.

The incident, which occurred on October 28, turned violent very quickly as Pelosi and DePape both held onto to hammer before the latter suddenly begins to hit the 82-year-old over the head in a repeated manner. The sudden outburst sees both of them fall to the ground as police race inside to detain DePape. Pelosi was left with severe injuries to his head, including a fractured skull.

According to the police report, DePape is alleged to have broken into the SanFran house while Pelosi was asleep, having arrived at the property with tape, a rope, and zip ties. Nancy was out in Washington D.C. at the time, with reports claiming the attacker was actually looking for her and not her husband.

Pelosi ended up being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment while DePape, who had pleaded not guilty in the case, was taken to jail. His charges include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse.

The official indictment read, “The two officers opened the door to see the foyer of the Pelosi Residence, Mr. Pelosi, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, DEPAPE in shorts, running shoes and a sweatshirt, and DEPAPE and Mr. Pelosi jointly gripping a hammer.”

What’s more, following an extensive investigation, police believe that the attacker had allegedly researched Pelosi and two other people’s homes two days prior. It’s now being argued that the street where the Pelosis live is usually monitored by an officer, who claimed to have seen police pull up to the couple’s $8 million home.

What’s odd about the situation is that the officer apparently didn’t see the break-in, which has now begged the question of whether the individual watching over the cameras was actually doing their job at the time of the incident.
