One of the protestors who was hit by a driver early Saturday morning in Seattle has died from her injuries.

According to TMZ, 24-year-old Summer Taylor passed away at a local hospital Saturday night after she and a fellow protestor, Diaz Love, were struck by a vehicle during a protest. The protest took place on a closed area of I-5 when Dawit Kelet drove into the closed stretch and slammed into the peaceful protestors. Love remains in serious condition and remains in the ICU.
I am on scene of the incident on I-5 and Olive way. A vehicle drove through the closure and struck multiple pedestrians on the freeway. Two people were transported to Harborview. One with life threatening injuries and one with serious injuries.

Washington State Police arrested and charged Kelet with two counts of vehicular assault and could be charged with homicide due to the young woman’s tragic death.

Multiple witnesses said the protestors were performing the “Cupid Shuffle” before Kelet plowed his vehicle into the crowd and continued to drive for two more miles before his arrest.

Hours before she was struck by the vehicle, Love posted the following message on her Facebook page stating several peaceful protestors were receiving death threats from hate groups.
Kewet is currently being held without bail and additional charges may be pending.
