Bliss Nightclub Issues A Statement After Hosting Viral Funeral For DMV Rapper Goonew: ‘We Weren’t Told What Would Transpire’
Following the viral hysteria showing the funeral for DMV rapper Goonew, Bliss Nightclub–the venue hosting the event– issues a statement, noting, “We weren’t told what would transpire.”
As we reported earlier, Goonew, who was shot and killed on March 18 at 24 years old, was given a home-going at Bliss Nightclub in Washington, D.C. However, the event went viral after event-goers realized he was propped up onstage at the club. Quickly social media went into a frenzy debating how culturally acceptable the situation was, and other pointing out the club possibly violating health codes, etc.

Well, the nightclub has now chimed in and they say they were never informed about the actual events that took place. They took to Instagram to share the following statement. “Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends and fans,” the venue wrote in a statement. Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration. Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire. We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended. Please keep Goonew’s family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time.” #Socialites, thoughts?
