In a new email obtained by Legal Affairs and Trails, Tory Lanez’s first lawyer was against his idea to try to persuade jurors that Kelsey Harris was the one who fired the gun at Megan Thee Stallion.

In the email that was shared by reporter, Meghann Cuniff shows Shawn Holley telling Lanez to see if another lawyer would be able “to move forward with that defense.”

“As we discussed on Saturday, I am not comfortable advancing the ‘Kelsie Defense’ , primarily because I don’t find it to be a viable strategy,” Holley said in the email to Lanez on Nov. 21, 2022. Holley went on to say that the only way he thought that idea would work is if Lanez’s driver, Jaquan Smith “is persuasive in the preview of his testimony and you are persuasive under mock cross-examination.”

“Even if both of those benchmarks (Quan/you) were to be satisfied, I am still not certain that I would be willing to go forward,” Holley wrote. “In light of that, you should discuss with George his willingness and ability to move forward with that defense and if he can do so by the trial date.”

As we previously reported, Tory’s sentencing date was pushed back to august 7th where prosecutors are looking to get Lanez to serve at least 13 years for the shooting even though Tory and his team are still claiming he’s innocent. Prosecutors filed a memo on June 6 stating that any sentence less than 13 years for Lanez would not only “endanger public safety,” but “not be in the interest of justice,” according to a report from Billboard.

“The defendant actively invited harassment of the victim by spreading misinformation to his large following in an effort to galvanize the public against the victim and even the prosecution team without any regard to the dangers it posed,” prosecutors wrote in the memorandum. “The defendant has weaponized misinformation to his large following to such a degree that it has left a lasting traumatic impact on the victim.”
