In a surprising turn of events, “Poolside Karen,” also known as Blair Featherman, has broken her silence and claimed that she was the one who was attacked in the viral TikTok video when she lashed out at a group of Latinos. Featherman, gained notoriety after the video of her directing racist comments towards them at her luxury apartment complex in Lakewood, Colorado went viral on TikTok. However, in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Featherman alleges that it was the group of “wannabe TikTokers” who supposedly attacked her.
According to Featherman, she noticed that there were people at the pool that didn’t live there, and according to the complex’s rules, there are only a certain number of people a tenant can bring to the pool. On top of being “loud,” she claims the Latino group then began to call her names for complaining. “They were calling me white b***h and white this and white that. I was already having a bad day, but this was too much.
She claims the TikTok video is edited and doesn’t include the part where she was allegedly attacked, with one woman clawing at her hair and pulling it so forcefully that their artificial nails broke off. The footage uploaded on TikTok showed Featherman spewing vitriol while lounging in a bikini, a stark contrast to her professional persona as an art consultant. The video quickly garnered attention and sparked outrage online.
However, it is important to note that Featherman’s version of events contradicts the widely circulated video where Featherman can be seen yelling at the Latino family and grabbing the person’s phone who was recording her. It is unclear why Featherman is now claiming to be the victim rather than taking responsibility for her own actions.
The incident resulted in the police being called to the scene, although it is unclear if any arrests were made. Featherman’s actions have faced severe backlash from both the online community and her professional network. The Masters Gallery in Denver, with whom she had previously worked, has publicly disavowed her actions.
