Black Man Fatally Shot By Police In Texas While Breaking Up A Domestic Dispute
Over the weekend, Jonathan Price, a 31-year-old Black man, was fatally shot by a police officer in Wolfe City, Texas after he attempted to break up a domestic dispute. That officer is now on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Texas Rangers.
Price — who had been an employee of the city at the time of his death, and heralded as a “hometown hero” and loved “by so many” in the Wolfe City community — was trying to intervene in a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman on Saturday night (Oct. 3); before he was killed by a Wolfe City police officer at the Kwik Check gas station at 103 Santa Fe Street.

As Price stepped in, the man began to assault Price, and when officers arrived, they tased Price, then withdrew their weapons. Witnesses say three gunshots let out at the gas station where Price was killed. Civil rights attorney S. Lee Merritt took to social media to bring awareness and said, “When police arrived, I’m told, he raised his hands and attempted to explain what was going on. Police fired tasers at him and when his body convulsed from the electrical current, they ‘perceived a threat’ and shot him to death.”
