Black Man Fatally Shot By Police At Wendy’s
A 27-year-old unarmed black man was shot and killed by Atlanta police on Friday night, after someone called to report that he was sleeping in his car at a Wendy’s drive-thru.
Shocking video of the incident captured at 10:30 PM shows officers pull up to a car in which a man, identified as Rayshard Brooks, was sleeping and blocking other cars in the drive-thru. According to the police report, two of the cops attempted to put him in cuffs, but it soon turned into a wrestling match with Rayshard on the ground for 30 seconds.
Apparently, Rayshard resisted and a struggle ensued over a Taser.
“During the arrest, the male subject resisted and a struggle ensued. The officer deployed a Taser. Witnesses report that during the struggle the male subject grabbed and was in possession of the Taser,” the GBI said. “It has also been reported that the male subject was shot by an officer in the struggle over the Taser.”
Rayshard was reportedly shot in the back. He died at the hospital following surgery. He was unarmed.
Officials claim an investigation is underway.
