“The Lady and the Dale” HBO Max’s miniseries about the rise and fall of Elizabeth Carmichael and her 1970 concept car, has definitely been a number one on our quarantine-must-watch list! Co-executive producer Andre Gaines brought his talents and visual eye to tell Carmichael’s story in the perfect light!
Currently airing, the mini-series follows Elizabeth Carmichael. Carmichael created a fuel-efficient, three-wheeled car known as The Dale in the middle of the 1970s oil crisis, as well as breaking barriers for tge transgender community during the time.
“I have always loved true crime. Next to sci-fi, and biographical, it’s my favorite genre. Liz Carmichael’s story was incredible — we were hooked from the very beginning, and so was everyone on our team, said Andre.
Gaines uses animation, interviews and historic footage to narrate the riveting story. Carmichael managed to fool the world and the FBI, but, we are definitely relating to her side of the story through the documentary’s eyes.
