Black FedEx Driver Chased & Shot At By White Father & Son In Mississippi

A Black FedEx driver was recently chased and shot at by a white father and his son in Mississippi. The driver, identified as 24-year-old D’Monterrio Gibson, says police are not taking the incident seriously and that it felt too close to that of Ahmaud Arbery. While Gibson was delivering packages to a Brookhaven home around 7 p.m. on January 24, he saw a white pickup truck begin to follow the Hertz rental van he was driving.

The white truck began blowing its horn, so Gibson attempted to move out the way, but the van swerved and tried to cut him off. Gibson says, “At that point my instincts kick in, and I swerve around him as he [is] trying to cut me off to avoid getting stuck in the neighborhood.” After driving further down the street to escape, Gibson was stopped by a man in the middle of the street pointing a gun at him and mouthing and waving for him to stop. Shaking his head “no,” Gibson ducked below the steering wheel and swerved around the man — who let of “at least five shots,” hitting the van.

Gibson says one of his managers called during the incident and told him to quickly get back to the station. However, the truck, with both men inside now, chased him out of Brookhaven and onto the interstate. Per affidavits, the man chasing Gibson in the truck was identified as Gregory Case and the second man shooting at Gibson, was Brandon Case. The father has been charged with unlawfully and feloniously conspiring with his son to commit aggravated assault by attempting to cause bodily injury to Gibson. And Brandon Case was charged with feloniously attempting to cause bodily injury with a firearm and a deadly weapon by shooting at an occupied vehicle.
