What caused the bison to attack the woman at Yellowstone
Park officials said the animal was walking near a boardwalk at the Black Sand Basin when the woman approached it on Monday. Moments later, the bison gored the woman and tossed her 10 feet into the air. A statement from the park said she sustained a puncture wound in addition to other injuries.
“Consequently, the bison gored the woman and tossed her 10 feet into the air. The woman sustained a puncture wound and other injuries. Park emergency medical providers responded to the incident immediately and transported her via ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.”
Officials added that no additional information about the woman was released.

Officials also released a statement warning visitors to stay away from the animals as their behavior can be dangerous.
“Wildlife in Yellowstone National Park are wild and can be dangerous when approached. When an animal is near a campsite, trail, boardwalk, parking lot, or in a developed area, give it space. Stay more than 25 yards (23 m) away from all large animals – bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, and coyotes and at least 100 yards (91 m) away from bears and wolves. If need be, turn around and go the other way to avoid interacting with a wild animal in close proximity.”
According to the statement, this was the first reported bison-related attack in 2022. The animal is also known to have the most attacks in Yellowstone Park since they are unpredictable and run faster than humans.
Twitter reacts to the incident and says the woman should’ve left it alone
After the news went viral on social media, many people believe that the woman should’ve stayed away from the bison since animals are meant to be left alone in natural environments.
A 25-year-old woman at Yellowstone National Park got within 10 feet of a bison before she was gored and tossed 10 feet into the air. Stop treating these animals like a petting zoo and they won’t fuck you up.

I’m actually never surprised by people trying to pet wild animals. Don’t pet everything you see brainlets https://t.co/gd7ZCm8z63

A woman was injured on a hiking trail by a moose recently here in Colorado. They are really dangerous, big, and beat you with their feet and legs. One killed a dog that belonged to a search and rescue team last summer.
