Although Bill Murray is finally breaking his silence to deny ever dating Kelis, he does admit that the romance rumors “raised his cred” and that he loves Kelis and Ol’ Dirty Bastard‘s “Got Your Money” music video.

Speculation surrounding ‘Ghostbusters‘ actor Bill Murray, 74, and “Milkshake” singer Kelis, 45, began in June 2023. The two were spotted in London together and the rumors went rampant. At the time, reports surfaced after photos of the pair out together began circulating. One photo in particular showed the two standing close to each other after Kelis’ set at the Mighty Hoopla festival in Brockwell Park, South London. They also posed for a cozy photo backstage.
On June 8, The U.S. Sun exclusively reported that the legendary actor, father-of-six, and self-proclaimed lover of Hip-Hop had attended several performances of the superstar mom-of-three. The two just so happened to be in London at the same time, away from the States on business of their own. Kelis had her performances and Murray was filming a sequel to the classic ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise.
Sources told the publication that they were also spotted together at the same hotel. They further alleged that they had been “getting close for a while” after first meeting in the States. Sources claimed the pair reportedly bonded over tragedy as widow and widower. Kelis’ second husband, Mike Mora, passed away from stage 4 stomach cancer in March 2022. And in January 2021, Murray’s estranged wife, Jennifer Butler, passed away of cancer as well. The two hadn’t been together for years, but reportedly kept in touch until her death.

Sources continued to allege that they “have clearly hit it off.” They further added, “Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap.” However, Kelis nor Murray ever confirmed nor denied the rumors as they spread like wildfire on social media.
But about a week or so into the dating rumors, Kelis finally broke her silence. Well, kind of. One fan asked the singer, “Ma’am would you care to address these Bill Murray allegations? Cuz damn! What he doing with all that?” She simply replied that she “wouldn’t bother at all” responding to them.
She wholly stated, “Lol no babe, I wouldn’t bother at all.” Two months later, sources claimed the couple had split. They added, “They hope to remain friends but also plan to get on with their lives. Kelis and Bill were — and still are — very fond of each other but things just ran their course.”

Bill Murray Finally Breaks Silence On Kelis Dating Rumors
Nearly two years later, Bill Murray is now finally breaking his silence on Kelis romance rumors. While appearing on SiriusXM’s ‘Sway in the Morning,’ Murray denied the Kelis dating rumors, but called her “spectacular.” He said, “I met this girl named Kelis. I got great press that I was dating her. That really raised my cred a lot.”
Murray further admitted that Kelis first caught his eye when he saw her in the 1999 music video for Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Got Your Money.” He recalled, “I’m going, ‘Who is the girl with the red hair?’ And it was Kelis. So, I decided to meet her sometime. She turns out to be spectacular. And actually I spoke with her recently, she bought land in Africa, in Kenya.”
Host Sway Calloway then asked Murray to clarify whether he ever dated Kelis and he responded, “No.” He then quipped that he would consider a relationship with her. He said, “You know, one of us could be on the rebound any second.”
