Bill Maher Tells Jada Pinkett Smith To ‘Put On A F**king Wig,’ Calling Alopecia Hair Loss Battle No Big Deal
Comedian, actor and political commentator Bill Maher is getting slammed after suggesting an alopecia hair loss battle is no big deal, further telling Jada Pinkett Smith to “put on a f***king wig.” Opening a recent show, Maher said, “Alopecia, it’s not leukemia. It’s when your hair falls out. Appalachia, it’s when your teeth fall out. There are worst things.”
He said, “Can I ask about alopecia? Because I must admit– first I saw that thing on TV, then I go to the Vanity Fair party, and I didn’t hear about it until then. [They’d said], ‘But you don’t know, she had alopecia. I’d heard this word, but it was vague in my mind what it was. So I went, ‘Well, oh that’s a very different thing.’ And then I found out what it is and I’m like, ‘Oh, no, it’s not that different.'”
Maher goes on to rant, “If you are so lucky in life as to have that be your medical problem, just say, ‘Thanks, God.’ It’s not life-threatening. It’s part of–for most people, 80 percent of men, 50 percent of women– it’s part of aging. Aging–trust me, I know–it’s degradation of the flesh, it happens to all of us. Just put on a f***king wig like everyone else at the Oscars.” #Socialites, thoughts?
