Constand was the woman Cosby was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting prior to the conviction being tossed on Wednesday. She said in her statement that she believes his overturned conviction will cause victims of sexual assault to not come forward and seek justice against their assailants.

“Today’s majority decision regarding Bill Cosby is not only disappointing but of concern in that, it may discourage those who seek justice for sexual assault in the criminal justice system from reporting or participating in the prosecution of the assailant or may force a victim to choose between filing either a criminal or civil action.”

Cosby was arrested in 2015 after the deposition he submitted to a civil suit filed by Constand was unsealed as reported by the New York Post. He confessed to giving his alleged victims quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with. He has maintained his innocence throughout the trial and conviction.
