A letter has been revealed regarding what Bijou Phillips wrote about Danny Masterson while trying to show her support for the actor before his sentencing. According to PEOPLE, Phillips wrote a letter in support of Masterson to attempt for the judge to lessen his sentence. In the letter Phillips referred to Masterson as her “life-saving partner.”
“I depended on Danny to take care of me and our daughter. I always felt that she would be OK because Danny is an amazing father,” she explained. “He was devoted to our daughter, would read her books, take her on walks and to ballet lessons. I never once heard him complain. The two were inseparable.” Phillips also added how when Masterson lost his job from ‘The Ranch’ he always found a way to support his family. She revealed that once the trio moved to a farm in Santa Ynez, California, Masterson “toiled long days on the land to make it profitable for our family.”

Phillips praised her spouse for “always” being “against drugs” and helping “so many friends and colleagues get sober.” She noted that Masterson “never wavered” on his stance against substance abuse and “tried to shield the younger actors he worked with from such temptations and offered them advice on their careers and in their lives.” She continued, “It has been very difficult without him here. Even though he is now in jail, he calls her every day. He helps her with homework every night. He teaches her math with kindness and patience,” Phillips wrote. “She is far above grade level in all subjects, reading three grades above her own, and that is thanks to the guidance and attention of her father. Danny has watched her piano recitals and applauds when she practices in the living room after each song.”
Phillips concluded: “We need him more than you can imagine. I know he has been convicted of serious crimes. But the man I married has only been an extraordinary husband to me and a devoted father to our daughter.” Despite expressing this heartfelt message to the judge the degraded actor was still sentenced to 30 years to life for rape.
TMZ obtained court documents on Monday that revealed she filed for divorce in a California court. Her attorney, Peter A. Lauzon also shed light on the situation and said, “Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter.” He continues, “This period has been unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family. Mr. Masterson was always present for Ms. Phillips during her most difficult times of her life. Ms. Phillips acknowledges that Mr. Masterson is a wonderful father to their daughter.” During the trial and re-trial Bijou stood by her estranged husbands side and even showed up to court with him but after being hit with the sentence she has decided to go her separate ways.
