Beyoncé Receives Her First Daytime Emmy Nomination for Mom Tina Knowles-Lawson’s Facebook Watch Series!

Socialites, join us in congratulating Beyonce who received her first Daytime Emmy nomination for writing the “Talks with Mama Tina Theme Song” for her mother Tina Knowles-Lawson’s Facebook Watch series, Talks with Mama Tina!

The award-winning singer received the nomination on Thursday for the award in the outstanding original song category. According to an official synopsis, the show is an “intimate conversation produced and filmed in the vibrancy and warmth of Ms. Tina Knowles Lawson’s home. Over her famous gumbo, the show explores the journey from unknown to superstar and encourages everyone to be their authentic and unapologetic selves as they work to find their inner light.”

While this is Beyoncé’s first Daytime Emmy nomination, Beyoncé has garnered eight Primetime Emmy Awards nominations over the years but has yet to win one. Before this nod, she received four Emmy nominations in 2019 for her Netflix film Homecoming, which documented her iconic 2018 Coachella performance. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held on 24 June.

Lawson announced the news of her Facebook Watch show, Talks With Mama Tina, on her Instagram account back in Dec. 21. The show officially debuted Wednesday, Dec. 22. She said at the time,

“I’m so excited to announce the launch of my new @wetheculture. @Facebookwatch show “Talks With Mama Tina” where I’ve invited some of my favorite people over to have a talk with me. I loved filming this show and sitting down with so many amazing people because we got to have such honest heartfelt conversations and I got to make them my famous GUMBO!” She also said, “Thank you to my baby @beyonce and my beautiful grandbabies for making this special theme song for the show. Are you guys ready to watch?”

Lawson who is also the mother to Solange a Knowles had guests including Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, John David Washington, Pauletta Washington, Kevin Hart, Storm Reid, Marsai Martin, Zendaya, and Tiffany Haddish.

Knowles-Lawson also said in her post that she “even got the pleasure of sitting down with some of the mothers of these talented superstars. I’m really proud of this show and all the people who helped make It happen!“

Clearly, winning runs in the family. Beyoncé is no stranger to getting nominated, winning awards and making history. Just last year, Beyoncé, 39, showed up at the 2021 Grammys and made history with four wins — making her the most decorated woman in Grammys history. While accepting her award she said, “I am so honored. I am so excited.” She added at the time, “As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times and it’s been such a difficult time. So I wanted to uplift, encourage and celebrate all the beautiful black kings and queens that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world. This is so overwhelming,” she continued. “I’ve been working my whole life since 9 years old and I can’t believe this happened. This is such a magical night. I know my daughter is watching,” she said of Blue Ivy, who won an award that same night.
