Now, y’all know damn well Beyonce is busy rehearsing for her upcoming Renaissance tour next month. But social media appears to be pushing the blame on Queen Bey after Chloe Bailey’s debut album, “In Pieces” underperformed on the Billboard Hot 200 following its release last week. According to Hot New Hip Hop, Bailey’s first studio album sold around 10k in its first week and was placed at No. 119 on the official Billboard albums chart, which has understandably left a lot of people surprised.
Since the report of Bailey’s first-week numbers, people have taken to Twitter, with many holding Beyonce accountable for the lackluster sales. As most will already be aware, Bey signed Chloe & Halle to her management company, Parkwood Entertainment, back in 2015, which was followed by signing a record deal at Columbia Records. But the question people are now wondering is why the “Cuff It” singer didn’t promote Bailey’s album, with one Twitter user, writing, “Beyoncé nasty for not promoting Chloe’s album a simple IG repost would’ve probably gave Chloe a top 50 debut.”
Another person echoed similar words on the social media platform, writing, “not to be funny, but I really wanna know what was the point of Beyoncé signing chloe? like was it for a look? so that someone can be under her? I don’t get it, cause how do you let your artist drop an album & you don’t support it not once & now she sold 10k.” The conversation sparked a huge debate on Twitter on Monday, and it’s apparent by the reactions that people are trying to hold Beyonce accountable for how “In Pieces” ended up performing on the charts.
A third person seemed to agree, writing, “Chloe was better off remaining independent bc Beyoncé is paving the way for blue and nobody else. Chloe will make it further when she realize that because she has IT. But she can’t over shine the heir to the throne.”
A fourth noted, “I’m wondering the same thing. I feel bad for Chloe she really thought that being under a mega start will boost her career. This is a reminder that it’s better to be under a small management that has your best interest at heart or b independent. She was better off on her own.”
Since her rise to stardom, Bailey has often been compared to her mentor, which hasn’t always been in her favor though as critics have previously said they would want the 24-year-old to find her own identity in the music industry.

Some even went as far as to say that the reason why Bailey’s album didn’t perform well may be down to people still trying to figure out who she is as an artist. Constantly being compared to Bey while trying to find her own lane may have proven to be a challenge for the singer, who has never shied away from the fact that she’s inspired by Bey, but never has she said she wanted to be the spitting image of the R&B superstar.
Socialites, do you think it’s fair to blame Beyonce for Bailey’s album sales?
if Beyonce didn’t act like she was the second coming of Christ and actually helped promo this album which has been released under her label, Chloe wouldn’t be getting publicly embarrassed like this. didn’t Halle and her fuck ass boyfriend put Chloe through enough? omg. https://t.co/m11faHpHOV pic.twitter.com/RcTCwu0JdY
