Beyoncé And Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Team Up To Donate $6 Million For COVID-19 Relief
Beyoncé is doing her part during the coronavirus pandemic by teaming up with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for a $6 million initiative. That’s right!
Queen Bey made the big announcement on her official website this Thursday morning. The superstar singer’s BeyGOOD and Dorsey’s #Startsmall came together to provide $6 million in relief funding to various organizations providing mental health wellness services with help from UCLA. According to Beyoncé’s site, they’re also partnering with the National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) to offer local support in places like Houston, New York, New Orleans, and Detroit.
“Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD recognizes the immense mental and personal health burdens being placed on essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In our major cities, African-Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies, and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis,” says the release.
This latest initiative comes shortly after Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation teamed up with Dorsey to commit $2.1 million each — $4.2 million total — to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, in order to help manage the domestic violence crisis.
Earlier this month, he also announced his $1 billion dollar donation to help fight coronavirus.
