Barack Obama Regrets Not Awarding Dolly Parton The Presidential Medal Of Freedom

Former US President Barack Obama, 59, says he regrets not awarding Dolly Parton the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his eight years in office.

Speaking with 56-year-old TV host Stephen Colbert on Monday evening’s ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ Obama says it was a “screw up.” During their interview, Colbert asked Obama how the famed Country music star hadn’t been awarded for all of her humanitarian work, noting her most recent $1 million donation to scientists developing a COVID-19 vaccine.

Responding, 44 says, “That’s a mistake — I’m shocked. That was a screw up. I’m surprised. I think I assumed that she had already got one, and that was incorrect.” However, he adds that he will try to fix his mistake through Joe Biden. He says, “She deserves one. I’ll call Biden.”

In addition to speaking on his awarding mistake, Obama confirms he does not miss some parts of the presidency. He says, “I found the work fascinating. But I do not miss having to wear a tie every day.”
