Just weeks after the passing of his brother Aaron, Nick Carter is faced to deal with some more unsettling news following a press conference given by Shannon “Shay” Ruth, who has accused the singer of raping her back in 2001. The woman in question broke down in tears during a press conference that was live-streamed on Facebook last night as she detailed the incident which allegedly occurred when she was just 17 years old.
Shannon, who mentioned that she’s autistic, says the trauma of the events that took place 21 years ago has affected her disorder, which appeared to imply that her battle with ASD may have allegedly made her an easy target for the Backstreet Boys band member. “After he raped me, I remember him calling me a ‘re—-ed bitch’ and grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm,” she claimed. “Carter tried to scare me into silence … he was nasty and threatening.” She also alleged to have contracted HPV from their sexual encounter.

The 42-year-old is vehemently denying the allegations made against him in a statement released by his attorney Michael Holtz, who says that the accusations are baseless and untrue, adding that the alleged victim had apparently made countless false statements about him in the past. “Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick – and those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time.”
“No one should be fooled by a press stunt orchestrated by an opportunistic lawyer – there is nothing to this claim whatsoever, which we have no doubt the courts will quickly realize. This claim about an incident that supposedly took place more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also entirely untrue.”
OG fangirl here. I can personally attest that @nickcarter is & always has been NOTHING but a complete gentleman. I’m disgusted by these baseless accusations & the damage they are causing to this innocent man, his family and his band mates. Big mistake @ABC #iStandWithNickCarter

Shannon joined three other women — simply known as Jane Does — in a lawsuit filing on Thursday that accused Nick of sexually assaulting them. In court docs obtained by Page Six, the alleged incident with Shannon is said to have occurred in Tacoma, Washington, where she asserted the singer having offered her an alcohol beverage after meeting her on his tour bus following a concert.
The incident left Shannon with a sexual transmitted disease — HPV, to be exact — which traumatized her given that she had never had sexual intercourse prior to her alleged encounter with Nick. “Just because Nick Carter is a celebrity does not mean that he is excused from his crimes,” she added. “I am a survivor and always will be.”
