A dog is being hailed a little hero after saving a baby who had been abandoned in a trash and taking the child to safety.
This all happened on Wednesday. The stray dog was found by a passerby carrying a newborn baby girl in a trash bag through the streets of Tripoli, in Lebanon. As many would expect, it was a shocking sight to the person who heard her cries. The man managed to take the bag from the dog and found the child with bruises all over her body. The little baby was taken to the Islamic Charity Hospital and then transferred to the Tripoli Governmental Hospital. From there, security services and judicial authorities were informed, the New York Post reports citing The National.
Conflicting reports state the baby was just a few hours old. However, some stated that the baby is beloved to be 4 months old. It is still unclear l exactly when she was abandoned. Her condition was described as serious but stable but the hospital declined to provide any further details.
Police have been investigating the incident and searching for the baby’s abandoners.
People have been reacting to the miraculous move by the dog all over Twitter. One user said,
That stray dog needs to be adopted alongside the baby.” Another said, “You adopt this baby girl, you also have to adopt the stray dog that rescued her from the dumpster. They’re a package deal now. That’s it. Them’s the Rules 💜….” a third added, “Further proof Dogs are better than humans.” A fourth said, “The dog has much more humanity, kindness, cunning, and intelligence than some satanic mutants in human form.”
Journalist Ghassan Rifi from Tripoli weighed in on the shocking story too. He said he never seen an incident as disturbing as this in the city during his career.
“Usually, when someone wants to give up their kids, they place them in front of an orphanage or a police station,’ he said via Arab News.
“However, this baby was dumped in an area that is considered very dangerous at night, as a lot of stray dogs can be found. The municipality had previously tried to poison these dogs but animal welfare organizations refused and called for their protection. Is it possible that whoever dumped her wanted to get rid of her by letting the dogs eat her in this area infested with stray dogs, and that she was saved by that man who happened to be there by chance?” Rifi said.
If no one offers to adopt the baby after she fully recovers, she will be placed in an orphanage after the public prosecutor is informed.
