We never thought we’d see the day, but Azealia Banks has taken to Instagram to DEFEND another female rapper, okay! As you will probably already know, Doja Cat has been receiving a ton of backlash after she was caught vaping at the Met Gala on Monday despite Anna Wintour specifically banning anyone from smoking at the annual fundraiser. There’s even video footage of Wintour and her team saying that one way celebrities can find themselves not being invited back to the gala is if they break their rules, which included smoking, leading many to speculate whether Doja won’t be welcomed to attend in the future.
Whatever the case, Azealia Banks had some words for Ms. Wintour in a lengthy post on her Instagram Story that read, “I’m sorry I ki on doja but Anna Wintour has some f*****g nerve. This is PURE old white lady jealousy and nothing else.” The “212” rapper then alleged that white women are “snorting” in the bathroom at the Met Gala all the time, so the idea that Doja is getting heat for vaping on the red carpet seems to have left Azealia feeling pretty annoyed.

“And like there aren’t multiple photos of high school drop out Anna Wintour smoking cigarettes with yellow teeth in her [mouth],” she wrote. “I feel like if she’s going to try and make an example of doja for vaping then everyone’s bags and costumes need to be thoroughly searched for paraphernalia.” It’s important to note Azealia has actually never attended a Met Gala to know if “white girls” are actually “snorting” in the bathroom.
Given her history of not-so-nice behavior towards other celebrities, it’s pretty unlikely Anna would extend an invite to Azealia, especially now after her latest string of comments.
One of the most notorious examples of Banks’ behavior occurred in 2016 when she made a series of racist and homophobic comments about Zayn Malik on Twitter. She accused him of copying her style in his music video and referred to him using a racial slur. Her comments were widely condemned as ignorant and hurtful, and she faced significant backlash from fans and other celebrities.

Another example of Banks’ behavior was when she physically assaulted a security guard at a nightclub in 2015. Video footage showed Banks punching and biting the guard, who was trying to remove her from the venue. She was arrested and charged with assault, but the charges were later dropped.
As Banks’ behavior became more and more erratic, it had a significant impact on her music career. She lost several endorsements and sponsorships, and many fans and industry professionals began to distance themselves from her. Her record label, Interscope Records, eventually dropped her from their roster, citing her behavior as the reason.
