Azealia Banks fans are not happy with Doechii who they are accusing of biting the “212” rapper’s sound. Last week, Doechii debuted a preview of an upcoming single, and it wasn’t long before people gave their feedback, with many saying it sounded a lot like Banks’ song, “New Bottega.”
Doechii hasn’t responded to the backlash she’s receiving, predominantly on Twitter, for the similarities between the new track she’s expected to be releasing with Banks’ song, but judging by the response, people want her to scrap it. “Is this not Azealia whole flow and damn near song OMG???” One Twitter user wrote.
“they saying she biting azealia style but if azealia is too wack to make it pop, why not doechii?” another person argued. A third added in their thoughts, tweeting, “Doechii has said over a million times that Azealia Banks is her biggest inspiration. she even tried to do a song with that crazed lunatic before.”
But it didn’t end there, with one fan going on to joke, “Azealia Banks is gonna open up her chicken coop and make a Doechii voodoo doll,” while another person continued the conversation, adding, “Its weird how y’all can’t let more than one person shine. Like Doechii and Azealia Banks are BOTH talented and dope in sound, but y’all out here acting like its the highlander hunger games and there can be only one. It’s weird. This isn’t musical purge, just chill.””
Meanwhile, back in January, Banks made headlines when she came for Kanye West, who she accused of sacrificing daughter North West’s mental health by telling the world how his ex Kim Kardashian has contemplated getting an abortion when she found out she was pregnant with the nine-year-old.
“To meet him and hear him talk s**t about Kim Kardashian it gave me a little bit of glee, because you’re young, and you’re dumb, and you don’t get it yet,” she told The Guardian in an interview. “He’s like, ’I hate this white b***h’ – you’re like: ‘Yesss.’ But as time goes on, it’s like: ‘Wait, you hated my Black a**, too! You hate all women!’”
She added, “You’re a f***ing idiot for basically sacrificing the mental health of your daughter. You are the last person we need to hear from about Black fatherhood and the Black family unit.”
Banks also touched on why she decided to leave Los Angeles, saying there was a lack of representation for other races. “Here’s Jenny with her f-ckin’ like biodynamic wine bar and her vegan cafe. She’s got a Black Lives Matter sign in the window, but sis, did you pay attention to papi who delivered the milk?” she continued. “Did he get a free cup of coffee? I had to go because I can’t do this – either Covid was gonna kill me, or depression. I’m going to f-cking Miami.”
