While hosting Saturday night’s (February 3) episode of ‘SNL,’ Edebiri took accountability for her critical comments about J.Lo during a “Jeopardy” skit called “Why’d You Say It?” In the skit, the contestants were confronted with cruel and snarky social media posts that host (Kenan Thompson) demanded an explanation for.

Edibiri was shown a picture of a woman enjoying the rain, and per the skit, she had commented, “Die.” Reacting, in the skit, Edibiri’s character said, “It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post mean comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you are 24, and stupid, but I think, I speak for everyone when I say that from now on, we’re gonna be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”

Although Edibiri didn’t directly address or reference Jennifer Lopez and how she shaded the popstar’s career, it was pretty obvious that the actress tried to take some heat off of her through the ‘SNL‘ skit.

Additionally, J.Lo didn’t appear in any sketches during this episode, however, she did stand alongside Edebiri in a promotional teaser ahead of the episode’s premiere. In the clip, J.Lo gushes, “I love your show,” and Edebiri responds, “I love your everything.”

In 2020, Ayo Edebiri hopped on the ‘Scam Goddess‘ podcast and, along with host Laci Mosley, she called J.Lo’s “whole career one long scam,” further claiming that the singer is unaware of people’s critiques of her and that she couldn’t carry a note and probably doesn’t sing on all of her songs.

Edebiri said, “Well, that’s the thing — she thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her. I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs. A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J.Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ Like, ‘J.Lo was busy.’ Doing what? Not singing, obviously.”
