Avril Lavigne Calls Off Engagement With Mod Sun Just Days After Being Photographed At Nobu With Tyga

A new report claims Avril Lavigne has reportedly called off her engagement with Mod Sun days after she and rapper Tyga were seen leaving a Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles. Lavigne and her now ex-fiancé got engaged just under a year ago, but for the past two months, the pair have been facing issues in their relationship to the point where they both appeared to have realized they were better off apart, according to PEOPLE.

The two were last spotted together at a pre-Grammy event to honor Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald, but sources say they reportedly ended their romance shortly after. “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” an insider told the magazine. Earlier this week, TMZ obtained photos of Lavigne and Tyga enjoying a meal at Nobu, which instantly sparked dating rumors, though their pairing did seem kind of odd to some.

However, a source explained that Lavigne and Tyga have been friends for a while and that their recent get-together was just two friends catching up. Furthermore, there apparently was no third party that came between Lavigne and her ex — the former couple had been facing issues long before her being seen out with Tyga this week.

Lavigne and Sun are as of writing still following each other on social media, so perhaps their relationship didn’t actually end on bad terms — the timing of reports concerning their breakup just seems to be quite the coincidence.

Tyga himself has not addressed rumors of dating claims between him and the “I’m With You” singer, though he is believed to have been spending quite frequently as of late. No word on how long he and Lavigne have been friends with one another, but given that the Canadian-born singer and her ex are still following each other, surely their split was amicable.

Lavigne announced her engagement to Sun in March 2022 when the now-exes flew out to Paris, France, after having dated for around a year. “Yes! I love you forever 💍🥂 Sunday March 27, 2022,” Lavigne had captioned the post. “love u so much! Forever n ever my angel.”
