California Is Now The Leading State For COVID-19 Cases, Surpassing New York

As of Wednesday morning, data from Johns Hopkins University showed California has the most confirmed coronavirus infections of any state, surpassing New York.

California had 415,763 total cases as of Wednesday, compared to 415,094 in New York, according to COVID-19 data compiled by NBC News. CA Governor Gavin Newsom also confirmed that update on Twitter, reporting a record of 12,807 new coronavirus cases. He said this total was “the highest in the nation.”

Despite that, it was noted that New York’s coronavirus death toll far exceeds that of California. The coronavirus had killed more than 33,368 people in New York, while 7,892 had died in California, according to NBC News’ tally.

“We’re a state the size of 21 states combined,” Newsom said Wednesday. “So it’s not surprising now in some respects, as we began to reopen key sectors of our economy, people continue to mix and people continue to come in close contact with others that may have contracted this disease, that our numbers will start to go up in total.”

Donald Trump and federal health officials have pumped up efforts to encourage Americans to wear masks, with the president saying on Tuesday that masks will “have an effect”. However, he has said he would not support a national order on the issue and would leave it up to the states.

Wisconsin Woman Arrested For Setting Ex-Boyfriend’s Car On Fire

A video showing the moment a woman sets a car on fire has gone viral. The clip starts off with a random lady walking up to an SUV and throwing what appears to be gas inside the vehicle. She then tries to light the car on fire but suddenly it explodes, throwing her to the ground.

As the video circulated online, it was unclear when and where this happened. However, NBC affiliate WMTV has provided details on the incident. According to the news channel, the woman behind the crime has been identified as 34-year-old Kelly S. Hayes of Madison, Wisconsin.

A witness reported the incident, noting that a woman armed with a baseball back broke out the vehicle’s windows before dousing it with gas and setting it on fire. Another witness managed to get the license plate of the woman’s car. Police eventually arrested Hayes on Tuesday on suspected arson and criminal damage to property charges. Police said Hayes had a past relationship with a man who drives the car.

Unfortunately, the car is considered a total loss. As of right now, it is unclear if she has been released or still being held in police custody.

The former Young and the Restless actor Max Ehrich popped the big question on Wednesday, just less than four months after it was revealed that they were dating. Ehrich, 29, asked the singer to marry him in Malibu, California, and gave her a stunning diamond ring by celebrity jeweler Peter Marco.

In a sweet Instagram post, Lovato, 27, opened up about saying “yes” to the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with: “I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” the singer wrote to her future husband. “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. Canada CDC Suggests ”Glory Holes” For Safe Sex During Coronavirus Pandemic

Canada’s top health experts want people to stay extra safe and clean even when they plan to get a little dirty.

In a section on an official Canadian government website, the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control — health professionals share suggestions for people to practice safe sex during the Coronavirus pandemic. One way they encourage people to protect themselves during sex is to “Use barriers, like walls (e.g., glory holes), that allow for sexual contact but prevent close face-to-face contact.”

“Glory holes” are small holes cut into partitions that allow people to engage with little skin-to-skin contact. The “glory holes” can limit the spread of COVID-19, according to the experts.

BCCDC spokesperson, Jane Campbell, said the recommendations were adapted from the New York City health department guidelines, which actually recommended walls back in June, but did not label them “glory holes” at the time.

Campbell explained that “The recommendations acknowledge that sex is important for a person’s mental, social, and physical wellbeing and offer strategies to help reduce the spread of COVID-19,” Campbell said. “During the pandemic, people are continuing—and should continue—to have sex,” VICE quotes.

Kim Kardashian’s Prison Reform Meeting With Meek Mill Wasn’t A One-On-One Despite Kanye’s Claims

Kanye West‘s Twitter fingers were on speed late Tuesday as he vented about a few things in his personal life. As we previously reported, Ye revealed that he’s been trying to divorce his wife, Kim Kardashian of six years after she “met up” with rapper Meek Mill at the Waldorf Astoria to discuss “prison reform.”

While Kanye thinks the meet-up was very sketchy, sources connected to the Kardashians and Meek are speaking out to set the record straight. The insider tells TMZ that Kim’s prison reform summit did not go down at the Waldorf Astoria in L.A. as Kanye said on Twitter last night. Meek and Kim never met in a one-on-one setting. They were joined by philanthropist Clara Wu Tsai for the criminal-justice summit and the trio met in Jean-Georges restaurant at the Waldorf. As the source notes, the group discussed plans to keep the prison reform movement going forward. A witness also says Kim left the hotel alone right after the meeting ended.

Kim hasn’t addressed Kanye’s divorce tweets but Meek Mill has addressed Kanye’s implication that Kim cheated on him by hooking up during their meeting. The rapper kept it real simple and tweeted: “Sh*t is cappp cmon …..”

Meanwhile, Kim did issue a full statement to request compassion for Kanye West’s bipolar disorder. She wrote on Twitter and Instagram:

“Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor,” Kardashian West wrote. “People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

She went on to say:

“I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions. He is a brilliant but complicated person who — on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man who experienced the painful loss of his mother — has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder… Living with bipolar disorder does not diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some. That is part of his genius and as we have all witnessed, many of his big dreams have come true.”

Petition For Breonna Taylor Draws 10M Signatures, 2nd-Highest Ever On Change.org

JUSTICE FOR BREONNA TAYLOR: A Change.org petition demanding justice for her has garnered more than 10 million signatures, the second-highest number in the website’s history.

Law student Loralei HoJay, who created the online appeal, according to a Change.org press release, calls for the firing and arrest of the three Louisville Metro police officers who were involved in the March 13 raid on Taylor’s Louisville home, where she was shot to death. The petition, titled “Justice for Breonna Taylor” reads, “There have been no charges thus far (it has been nearly 4 months). Their pensions must be revoked.”

So far, just one of the officers involved, Sgt. Brett Hankison has been fired for “wantonly and blindly” firing into Taylor’s apartment, according to his termination letter. Meanwhile, the two other officers, Myles Cosgrove and Jonathan Mattingly were just placed on administrative leave.

The Kentucky attorney general is still investigating the case…

As NBC News notes, the online petition is addressed to several leaders including President Donald Trump, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, state Attorney General Daniel Cameron among others. The number of signatures topped the 10 million mark on Sunday after people from all over the world signed and shared the link on social media.

Actress and singer Raven-Symoné appeared on “The Talk” this week to discuss many things like recently tying the knot with Miranda Pearman-Mada and releasing new music for her fans.

Symone, who last appeared as a co-host on “The View” in 2015, also spoke chopped it up with ET about the recent departures of Tamera Mowry-Housley and Amanda Seales from the daytime series, and revealed that she is open to discussing an opportunity on the show. However, the 34-year-old star said she really wants to put all her attention on other creative ventures.

“There’s always conversations to be had, but I’m gonna stay true to what I’ve been setting goals towards during corona, and that’s to focus on my skills as a director and EP and a creator, and really take what I’ve learned in the industry and pass it along to people that are beginning.” She went on to say, “But, I’ll never say no to a cool job,” she noted. “I don’t mind helping out where they need me to. As long as we’re corona safe, I’m down for the cause.”

After six years of marriage, it looks like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship will soon come to an end.

As we previously reported, Kanye recently made some shocking comments about his family on Twitter and during his first campaign rally in South Carolina. On Sunday, while speaking to a small crowd, Ye revealed that they almost terminated Kardashian’s first pregnancy. That following day, Kanye hopped on twitter to explain that, “Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughter’s life yesterday.”

Just you’re ago, Kanye revealed that he’s been trying to get a divorce from his wife and also took shots at her mother, Kris Jenner. Kim has not publicly responded to Kanye’s wild tweets. However, a close source to the reality star told Us Weekly that “Kim has been meeting with lawyers to explore and talk about divorce.”

The insider points out that the couple has had their ups and downs in the past, but said Kim has “wanted to make it work.” It was also said that the 39-year-old hasn’t gone forward with divorce in the past “because of their children.”

Kardashian, 39, and West, 43, tied the knot in May 2014 in a ceremony in Florence, Italy. The couple wed 11 months after welcoming North in June 2013. They also share three other children: Saint, 4½, Chicago, 2½, and Psalm, 14 months.

Before concluding, the source told the magazine that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has “tried so hard to help him, but now Kim and her family feel as though he’s really crossed a line by talking negatively about them publicly. She feels helpless at this point.”

Halsey Is Disappointed At Fans For Joking About Kanye’s Mental Health: ‘A Manic Episode Isn’t A Joke’

Kanye West took to social media on Monday and went on a full-blown rant. During is meltdown on Twitter, Kanye claimed that his wife, Kim Kardashian tried to get him committed to a mental hospital after he revealed at a presidential campaign rally that he and his wife had once contemplated aborting their 7-year-old daughter North West.

The 43-year-old entertainer also compared his situation to Bill Cosby and the horror movie “Get Out.” Kanye said many other alarming things which made fans very concerned. Singer Halsey, who has been publicly open about her own struggles with mental health, took to Twitter to try and convince people that this is not a laughing matter and something to be taken seriously. She also urged people to have compassion and not reinforce stigmas around bipolar disorder.

“No jokes right now. I have dedicated my career to offering education and insight about bipolar disorder and I’m so disturbed by what I’m seeing,” she wrote. “Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isnt a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.”

She added that vilifying Kanye doesn’t help:

“A lot of people you know probably have bipolar disorder and you aren’t aware of it. Taking this opportunity to make offensive remarks and vilify people with mental illnesses is really not the way to go…this is the exact triggering shit that causes people to keep quiet about it,” she tweeted. “You can hate someone’s actions or opinions without contributing to stigma that damages an entire community of sometimes vulnerable people all for a couple of laughs.”

Halsey concluded with,

”If you wanna think someone is an asshole, go ahead. Lots of people with mental illnesses are great. Lots of them are assholes. Because they are people. With nuanced personalities. Joe Biden Says He Is Considering 4 Black Women To Be His Running Mate

On Monday, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said he was considering four Black women to be his running mate.

While speaking with MSNBC’s Joy Reid on “The ReidOut,” Biden said: “I am not committed to naming any (of the potential candidates), but the people I’ve named, and among them there are four Black women.”

Biden went on to say that he is currently getting a “two-hour vetting report” on each of his potential picks, and that he and his team have gone through “about four candidates” so far. “Then, when I get all the vetting done of all the candidates, then I’m going to narrow the list, and then we’ll see. And then I’m going to have personal discussions with each of the candidates who are left and make a decision,” CNN quoted Biden.

The 77-year-old pledge earlier this year to pick a woman for the job. As CNN notes, people rumored to be considered for Biden’s vice-presidential pick include Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Rep. Val Demings of Florida, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice and Rep. Karen Bass of California.

“It is important that my administration, I promise you, will look like America,” Biden told Reid on Monday. “From vice president to Supreme Court to Cabinet positions to every major position in the White House it’s going to look like America,” he continued. “It’s critically important that be the case. I can guarantee you that.”

J. Cole Confirms He Has 2 Kids And Discusses Retirement & More In Tell-All Essay

On Monday, rapper J. Cole shared an essay penned for The Players’ Tribune. In his post titled “The Audacity,” Cole reflects on his career: the highlights, setbacks and conflicts. He also talked about his personal life — confirming news that he is a father to two boys.

While recalling an unspecified time in 2016, he wrote, “A couple weeks prior I learned that I would become a father. It wasn’t a surprise. I had been taking steps to change my life for the past couple years, and I felt ready.” Cole – who has been married to Melissa Heholt since 2015 – summarized that moment in his life by saying, “Four years have passed. In that time I’ve been blessed with two sons, learned the delicate art of balance between parenthood and career, had the pleasure of working with a ton of talented artists as a featured rapper, spent 10 magical days recording a Dreamville album in Atlanta, and put a lot of time and energy into sharpening my sword and growing as an artist.”

As many know, J. Cole has previously referenced his fatherhood in his music, but he hasn’t publicly discussed being a dad until now.

In the letter, the 35-year-old also shared that he is thinking about retirement, but not before releasing his upcoming album “The Fall Off.” He says he has a “long term plan of becoming the best rapper I could possibly be before hanging up my jersey, leaving nothing on the table when all was said and done.”

“The fire that was once dying out has returned, and for that I’m grateful. On my career bucket list, there remain a few more items to check off before I give myself permission to enter whatever the next chapter of my life may be,’ he added, hinting that he’s at least considering retirement.

Harriet Tubman’s Relative Says If Not For Her, Kanye West Would Be On A Plantation

As we previously reported, Kanye lit up social media over the weekend after he made several outrageous comments at his first campaign rally in South Carolina.

While speaking to a small crowd, Kanye stated that historical figure Harriet Tubman never “freed the slaves” and said, “she just had them work for other white people.” Now, Ye has said many outlandish comments in the past, but this one really moved people the wrong way even Tubman’s family!

Her great-great-great niece expressed that she is also outraged by Ye’s Sunday comments. Tina Wyatt recently spoke with TMZ and expressed that she is extremely upset that he dared to say Harriet Tubman did not free slaves. Wyatt noted that her legendary relative was actually free when she risked her life to save others, and noted that Kanye and many others would be on a plantation if it weren’t for her.

Although she stressed that, Tina went on to say that what he did at the rally was nothing but destructive. She adds that Kanye just needs to start uplifting people if he wants to be in the public eye.

As we previously reported, Kanye has been making headlines after announcing that he’s running for President on the Fourth of July. He tweeted, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.” While some didn’t take him seriously, his latest campaign seems like confirmation that he’s all in.

911 Call Released: Tamar Braxton’s Boyfriend Broke Down As He Revealed She Took Pills & Left Suicide Note

TMZ has managed to obtain the 911 call Tamar Braxton’s boyfriend David Adefeso made when he found her unconscious last week.

In the heartbreaking audio, Adefeso cries hysterically as he begs dispatchers to “hurry” to their location, the Ritz Carlton in downtown L.A. He also explained that she had been drinking and possibly taking pills and according to him, the singer and reality star had been having trouble with WeTV.

As many are aware, Tamar’s reality show, “Braxton Family Values,” airs on WeTV and she reportedly has been upset with producers for using her childhood trauma to boost ratings.
Adefeso can be heard expressing those sentiments in the audio.

Thankfully, Tamar Braxton is alert and responsive and she has now been transferred to a new hospital facility where she can receive more specialized mental health treatment, The Blast reports. Still, fans and close celebrity friends have sending tons of love and prayers to Tamar as she recovers.

Son Of US District Judge Esther Salas Killed, Husband Shot In Their NJ Home

Law enforcement sources tell local news outlets that the son of New Jersey federal judge, Esther Salas has died after being shot to death in their New Jersey home.

According to NBC News, the shooting occurred Sunday afternoon. It was said that a gunman shot Judge Esther Salas’ husband and their 20-year-old son at their North Brunswick home around 5 p.m. While details are not exactly clear at this time, preliminary indications are that the husband answered the door and was shot multiple times; the son came running to the door and was shot as well before the gunman fled, the sources said. Some reports indicated that the shooter may have been dressed as some sort of delivery driver for FedEx. The company did issue a statement Monday saying it was fully cooperating with authorities and, “Our deepest sympathies are with Judge Salas and her family at this time.”

Daniel, a college student, was the judge’s only child, the official said. Her husband, defense lawyer Mark Anderl, was wounded and is expected to be ok. Judge Salas — the first Latina to serve on the federal bench in New Jersey — was believed to be in the basement at the time of the shooting, and she was not injured.

As of right now, the motive wasn’t immediately clear. Law enforcement officials said one theory was a possible home invasion robbery gone wrong. However, he’s putting all theories on the table, NBC News reports.

The news comes as a shock to many as Salas was assigned on Thursday, to take on a class action lawsuit brought against Deutsche Bank by Ali Karimi on behalf of investors who reportedly purchased securities from the bank between November 7, 2017, and July 6, 2020. The complaint alleges that the bank “failed to properly monitor customers that the Bank itself deemed to be high risk, including, among others, the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein,” federal court records show.

Federal court records also show that Salas has presided over many high-profiles cases, including the financial fraud case of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice.
