Aubrey O’Day says she feels ‘no vindication’ following release of Diddy’s 2016 Assault Video: ‘When people are exposed, it doesn’t take away the experience’

Aubrey O’Day, the former Danity Kane singer, continues to share her feelings following the release of a surveillance video showing her former boss, Sean “Diddy” Combs, assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016. In an exclusive interview with Page Six, O’Day revealed that she feels “no vindication” despite the video’s release.

The video, which was released by CNN last month, shows Combs violently punching and kicking Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, in a hotel. When asked if she feels vindicated by the video’s release, O’Day expressed that there is no vindication for anyone involved in such a situation.

O’Day explained, “Sadly, if you’re a victim of anyone at any point in time in life, this will ring true to you: There’s no such thing as vindication. It never goes away. It’s never better.” She continued, “And even when people are exposed, it doesn’t take away the experience. I suppose [being vindicated] gives you more credibility. But if you believe in yourself, anyone else’s belief in you doesn’t really matter much anyway. So, no, I don’t feel that.”

Despite feeling no personal vindication, O’Day believes that the release of the surveillance video is just the tip of the iceberg. She questions how many more similar incidents have occurred and how many other victims may exist.

As we previously reported, Cassie, now 37, filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, accusing him of rape and physical abuse throughout their 10-year relationship. The following day, the couple reached a settlement.

Cassie has since released a statement following the release of the video and the settlement of the lawsuit. She said,

“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past. Thank vou to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.
Love Always, Cassie.”

However, Combs is currently facing six additional lawsuits, alleging various forms of sexual misconduct and other illegal activities.
