Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Will NOT Run For Reelection
It’s been reported in a stunning announcement that beloved Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will NOT be running for reelection this year. The news arrives amid scrutiny over her handling of public safety following a rise in violent crime in the city.
On Thursday night (May 6) during a private call with friends, staffers and allies, Mayor Bottoms, who was elected back in 2017, reportedly told her supporters that she will not seek a second term as Atlanta’s 60th mayor. It’s reported that the mayor has scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference on Friday at City Hall, but further details are still unknown.

Bottoms’ revelation comes as a super shocking surprise as she’s become such a national public figure and has recently launched a massive reelection campaign with several fundraising events — including one back in March with President Joe Biden. The event, which was the first headlined by the President since his inauguration, raised over half a million dollars towards Bottoms’ reelection bid.
At a recent press conference Bottoms spoke on the rise in crime in her city under her watch and said, “People are entitled to their opinions, but don’t ever question whether or not I care. My love for this city is deeper than probably many others standing here because my family goes back 100 years in the city. So whether I am mayor of this city or not, I will do everything that I can possibly do to keep our communities safe.”
