Atlanta Child Abused On Instagram Live For Being Gay Is Reportedly Removed From Mother’s Custody By Georgia DFCS

On Thursday (June 17), a video went viral showing a 12-year-old Atlanta child being abused on Instagram live for being gay. It’s now reported, that the young boy has been removed from his mother’s custody by Georgia DFCS (Division of Family & Children Services). As we previously shared, the young boy, whose name is Tyler, was humiliated on IG live after his older brother shaved the word “gay” into his head, while sister, behind the camera, and others called the boy a “Gay a** b**tch” for “doing gay sh*t.”

Tyler’s brother proceeds to punch him and grip him up in the video before it cuts. After the video made its rounds calling for #JusticeForTyler, he ended up taking to IG live to — what appears to be — a coerced, damage control statement for his siblings. He said, “My brother and dem, they didn’t abuse me. They were just showing me [that I] need to stop doing that. I just wanted to get this off of my sister, like my sister didn’t do nothing or my brother, they were just showing me the right thing to do. It wasn’t like they was abusing me…they would never do things like that.”

However, the initial video was out and was eventually picked up by authorities at the Atlanta Police Department’s Special Victims Unit and the the commander of the LGBTQ Liaison Unit. Additionally, Georgia DFCS also stepped in, and as of Saturday (June 19), Tyler was reportedly removed from his mother’s custody, with a court date reportedly set. We will continue to share updates as they surface.
