One person was killed and at least 24 people were injured by gunfire – including numerous children – in an apparent mass shooting at a car show in Arkansas Saturday night, law enforcement announced.

Dumas Police Chief Keith Finch spoke with reporters Saturday night and said one person of interest was arrested as his division investigates the likelihood of multiple shooters involved.

“One suspect is in custody and a search is continuing today for others who may have been firing into the crowd,” Arkansas State Police explained in a statement, according to NBC.

Car show organizer Wallace McGehee went viral on Twitter after saying that the event had been a fun, nonviolent affair for 16 years prior to Saturday’s deadly shooting.

“We don’t really know what happened but we just want to send our prayers to all of our friends in this community. We’re here with yall,” he told KATV.

“This has never happened to us at our event ever. For something like this to happen it’s a tragedy… We did this here for 16 years without a problem.

“We want our community to come back and be strong. We’re going to get through this,” he said.

Police are still investigating this mass shooting in Dumas which is a pretty small town located about 90 miles southeast of Little Rock Arkansas.
