A$ap Rocky and Rihanna became proud parents earlier this month when they welcomed their firstborn into the world — and while fans are already wondering what kind of parents the power couple will become, the 33-year-old rapper has revealed that his approach to fatherhood is to raise “open-minded” kids. A$ap made the comment in the Summer 2022 issue of Dazed & Confused, where he also shared his thoughts and feelings about becoming a dad and what type of father he wants to be in the future.
“I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what,” he gushed. “I actually love to watch cartoons – I’ve watched like, Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark. I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”
The New Yorker further discussed having spent a significant amount of time with Rihanna out in Barbados, an experience he described as “unbelievable” considering he, too, has a lot of family members living on the eastern Caribbean island. Getting to make the roundtrips to Barbados with his significant other made the experience all the more special since they practically have very similar upbringings. And when asked about his relationship with Rihanna, A$ap — who usually refrains from talking about his leading lady in interviews — continued, “I think it’s just natural. We happen to look good together naturally. You know, it would take a lot of work to have us forcefully match before we leave the house.

“Sometimes we match to a T, or we just wear the same clothes. If I buy a shirt that she likes, I expect to get it stolen… but then I gotta steal it back.” Rihanna and A$ap have been dating on and off since 2012 before she settled down with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel for three years. There were rumors that Rih-Rih would reconcile with her former beau Drake following her split with the billionaire, but it turned out that she still had feelings for A$ap, who she started seeing again in the summer of 2020.
Elsewhere, Rihanna made headlines in her recent interview with Vogue when she lifted the lid on her bond with the Phoenix hitmaker, who she initially kept in the friend zone. “And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in. I love the simple things but also the grand adventures. There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bulls**t, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side.”
