The incident happened on Tuesday in Cuidad Santa Maria when the 53-year-old football fan was riding on the 440 line when he suddenly realized he wouldn’t make it home on time for the game due the bus’ slow pace. As reported by Oddity Central, the suspect hijacked the bus when it stopped at a red light and the driver stepped out to a kiosk to buy something. After noticing the bus was driving away, the driver immediately contacted police and officers arrived at its last location. The suspect reportedly drove four miles and abandoned the vehicle to walk home but was caught by police at the intersection of Callao and Maestro Ferreyra.

Due to the arrest, the crazed football fan ended up missing the entire game but later found out that the country won 3-0 and qualified for the World Cup Final. However it is unclear if he will be released from jail this weekend as Argentina will be playing against France on Sunday.
