You might want to make room for more social media platforms as MySpace is planning to make a return! That’s right, the original home of dramatic status updates, custom HTML layouts, and endless friendship beef over who made the cut for the “Top 8” is trying to slide back into our daily scroll.

In director Tommy Avallone’s new documentary Myspace, brothers Chris and Tim Vanderhook, the tech owners who bought the platform back in 2011 alongside Justin Timberlake, revealed that they are actively plotting a massive relaunch for the iconic site.

While most of the internet assumed Myspace was buried deep in the digital graveyard right alongside AIM and BlackPlanet, the Vanderhook brothers insist they’ve just been holding onto the keys until the timing is right. Speaking candidly in the doc, Chris Vanderhook made their intentions loud and clear: “We still own Myspace. We are stewards of the Myspace brand at this point, and we are going to relaunch Myspace,” Chris explained, according to PEOPLE. “We’re just waiting for the right time to do it. And if that one doesn’t work, we’ll do it again.”

Talk about standing on business and refusing to let go of an era.

If this feels like a flashback, you aren’t tripping. The duo previously tried to revamp the network over a decade ago after pulling off an outrageous move, faking a press release claiming Justin Timberlake was joining their acquisition team just to force a meeting with him in New York.

Timberlake actually bought into the vision, but by the time they overhauled the app, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram had already completely taken over the culture, leaving their music-focused redesign in the dust. However, with so many users currently fed up with toxic algorithms, hidden reach, and endless ad clutter across today’s apps, the owners believe there’s a fresh void in the market for something raw and nostalgic.

Myspace was all about organic music discovery, self-expression, and genuine connection. While the owners haven’t dropped an official release date or confirmed if we’ll be getting our auto-play profile songs back, the internet is already debating whether nostalgia is enough to pull us away from the others or if this would just be a bonus.
