More On BMF:
The Black Mafia Family (BMF) is a television show that revolves around the true story of the Flenory brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T.” Flenory, who rose to prominence in the 1980s as leaders of a drug trafficking organization known as the Black Mafia Family. The show explores their journey, starting from their humble beginnings in Detroit to becoming major players in the drug trade and their subsequent rise and fall. It delves into the complexities of their personal lives, the dynamics within their organization, and the challenges they face in maintaining their empire while evading law enforcement. The show depicts the impact of their criminal activities on their family, friends, and the communities they operate in.
Since premiering in 2021, the series has seen a lot of success. 50 cent previously explained why he felt so compelled to turn this true story into a series.
He told Newsweek: “Coming off of the success of a fictional story, like Power, this is something I feel like people will watch for more intensity, knowing that it actually happened, that it’s a true story.”
He added at the time, “Even with the success of the business on the street side, Meech [Demetrius Flenory] was able to keep himself associated with successful artists in the culture. I think that passion for music drove him.”
The recurring stars include Demetrius Flenory Jr. who is an American singer, rapper, and actor. He is also the son of a famous American drug trafficker, money launderer, and tax criminal, Demetrius Flenory Sr., also known as Big Meech. Actor Da’Vinchi also plays Terry ‘Southwest T’ Flenory.
While speaking with the outlet, 50 Cent revealed he actually wanted to throw himself in the show.
“I actually threw myself out of this one. I was originally cast to play Pastor Swift, the role that Snoop [Dogg] is now playing,” 50 Cent revealed. “It’s because I knew I had to market this whilst also doing promotional stuff for Raising Kanan which I did a voiceover for, and I didn’t want that to be in people’s minds when I reappeared in BMF. I thought Snoop did a very good job and I got the chance to direct him. He was very prepared, he worked on it. Snoop went in there with the attitude to bring the character to life.”
BMF Season 3 is set to premiere on Friday, March 1, 2024, as confirmed by a late August announcement.
