If you can’t get enough of the ABC series “Abbott Elementary,” then you’re definitely going to enjoy this big news.
This Wednesday, during the channel’s Television Critics Association winter press conference, it was announced that the show has been renewed for a third season! This is exciting news for fans as the sitcom created by Quinta Brunson is already in its second season and is ABC’s No. 1 series; exceeding its expectations.
The great news comes just a day after Brunson won the best musical or comedy actress award during Tuesday’s 80th Golden Globes at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. While accepting her win she said, “To Disney, to 20th Century, Warner Bros., thank you, guys.” She added, “Thank you for believing in this show about a group of teachers from Philadelphia. It has resonated with the world in a way that I couldn’t even imagine it would’ve. But let’s be real, I did imagine this when I sold it to you. Thank you for believing in it.”

She went on to highlight her co-producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, “who are just incredible and just support my vision,” she said. “It’s just worth everything to be able to have two people support you like that. They’re very white men and they just be like, ‘Okay, Quinta!’ So they let me get away with a lot and it really works out.”
Brunson was up against Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), Jenna Ortega(Wednesday), and Jean Smart (Hacks) in that category.
During her speech, the Philadelphia native also shouted out her costars including Tyler James Williams’ who also won that night for a best-supporting TV actor.
“I love you guys so much and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for having you,” Brunson said of her castmates. “I can’t believe I got to see one of my cast members win tonight and I’m just so happy to be here with you all.”

More On Abbott Elementary
According to the show’s description, it focuses on “a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — find themselves thrown together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.”
