Video footage shows a man being tackled to floor and getting beat down by Wisconsin police officer while the man was holding a baby! According to the NY Post this was a case of mistaken identity as the real suspects hid in the bathroom while all of this was going on.

Kenosha police were reportedly looking for suspects who were involved in a major hit and run crash back in July and witnesses told officers that they saw two black males and a woman carrying a child and fled to Applebees, according to the report. Jennifer Harris the manager at Applebees spoke with the news outlet and detailed what she saw happen. “(Police) came in and asked (the family) to show them what car they came in, so they could verify if they were in the car accident or not. “The guy didn’t want to comply, he had his baby in his arms. (The officers) kept telling him he’s not under arrest, but he’s detained, and needed to answer this question,” Harris said. “He was trying to say he needed to change his son’s diaper. He tried to go the other way, they tackled him into a wall and the baby hit its head on the wall.”

Harris then says she saw how officers tackled the man while the baby was screaming and the officers began to rip the baby out of the man’s arms. Once the baby was removed you can see officers throwing several punches at the man inside the restaurant. “It’s just sad. I just felt bad for the baby, that it had to go through that traumatic event,” Harris told the outlet as she held back tears. However police later said the couple had nothing to do with the hit-and-run, but yet the man tackled in the restaurant was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting and obstructing an officer.

The woman he was with was also arrested on the same charges and slapped with possession of marijuana as well, according to the outlet. After the horrifying ordeal, police found the actual suspects taking refuge in the bathroom and they were arrested and charged.

“The second he said he wanted to enjoy his food and for them to go away, the officers should have left him alone,” Hal Klibowitz, an employee working that night, told the outlet.

Harris — who has worked at the Applebee’s for about 12 years — was also fired by the establishment, with the eatery blaming her for sharing the video online and with news outlets. Representing Harris for wrongful termination is Attorney William Sulton, who said they gave Applebee’s the opportunity to reinstate her before they pursued legal action. The restaurant chain refused.

    • Why would any loving parent decide to physically resist several armed police officers while holding one’s OWN infant, and use the infant as a shield against being detained? Let’s get an answer to that question before we go on to the propriety (or lack thereof) of the actions of the police officers.

      • Please shut up you were not there If they weren’t under arrest that didn’t have to comply or speak with an officer when they didn’t commit a crime besides being black smh

      • Are you nuts? People are presumed INNOCENT and eating your food and changing your baby’s diaper isn’t resisting arrest and the only illegal conduct was by the racist cop. These incidents used to be isolated and now they are prevalent. What gives cops the right to attack innocent people? They do it all the time. A man was killed in his house for holding a pen and being upset. If the cops can’t tell the difference between a cell phone and a gun or a pen and a knife, then they shouldn’t be cops. Always resorting to the most violent option is a lack of training.

      • there is no report that the father used his child as a shield. unless you are black, you have no idea about the discrimination and aggressiveness with which law enforcement approach black citizens. there were many ways in which the police could have handled the situation better. a man with his family eating dinner and a restaurant should not have to defend himself against overly zealous police officers. it seems that the police might have assumed that someone fleeing a hit and run would not be sitting in a restaurant eating dinner. it would have been wise to do a more thorough search before inciting violence. Remember Kyle Rittenhouse? that deadly incident also happened in Kenosha. it seems the police there have some major issues.

  1. This is horrible and the burden we as black people bear. The officers were wrong to do what they did and the young man was under no obligation to answer their question unless he was under arrest. I think it could have been avoided had he answered however. A white person would not have had to endure this but the rules differ for people of color.
