Apple Looks To Pay $500M To Settle iPhone Slowdown Lawsuit

Ever feel like your iPhone slowed down just as a new one hit the market? Well, the theory was proven true in a lawsuit against Apple, and now the company’s settling for $500 million. Read more to see if you can claim your $25 per affected device.

Additionally, the 2017 class action lawsuit accused the company of purposefully using software updates to slow down older model phones, in turn, twisting the arms of customers into buying new ones.

Since admitting to the rather successful marketing scheme, the company’s now settling and expected to pay the owners of certain iPhone models $25 per affected device, totaling a minimum of $310 million and a maximum of $500 million.

Furthermore, after admitting to their bad practices in 2017, Apple later apologized and tried offer solace via battery replacements for $79; which was dropped to $29 in 2018.

In addition, Apple CEO Time Cook admitted in 2019, that the fallout of the scheme partly affected profits, as they “significantly reduced pricing for iPhone battery replacements.”

So, if you’re wondering if you qualify, read on.

Claims can be put through for iPhone users in the U.S. who owned iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus or SE bought before December 21, 2017.

However, filings aren’t yet available, until a federal judge in San Jose, CA approves and signs off on the settlement.
