AOC Offers Her Office To National Guards After They Were Reportedly Sent To Sleep In Freezing Garage After Shift

Socialites get into this! According to multiple reports, National Guard members were ordered out of the Capitol Building Thursday by Capitol Police, and told to either take their rest breaks outside or in a nearby parking garage!

The guards were moved after they were told they could no longer use space within the US Capitol Complex, including areas like the cafeteria of a Senate office building, as a rest area, multiple Guardsmen told CNN. “We honestly just feel betrayed,” one told CNN earlier Thursday “After everything went seamlessly, we were deemed useless and banished to a corner of a parking garage.”

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has decided to step in to help out. She took to Twitter to offer them her office. She tweeted: “Yeah this is not okay. My office is free this week to any service members who’d like to use it for a break or take nap on the couch. We’ll stock up on snacks for you all too. (We’re in the middle of moving offices and it’s a bit messy so don’t judge, but make yourself at home!)”

According to CNN, members of the National Guard have been allowed back into the Capitol Complex this Friday after a slate of lawmakers voiced their outrage at guardsmen being banished to a parking garage as a rest area, a guardsman told the news site. They will now be allowed to rest in the US Capitol Visitor Center, the guardsman said.
