Another Violent Criminal Accidentally Released From Rikers Island

Another violent criminal has reportedly been released from prison this week!

Someone clearly isn’t doing their job right because Nikim Meekins, 22, who was arrested for attempted murder on $300,000 bond, was accidentally released this week. The Bronx criminal court clerk is reported to have mistakenly marked him for release. W warrant is currently out for his arrest.

“Based on the documentation provided by the courts, the release from custody was proper and in accordance with our policy,” Peter Thorne, a rep for the Correction Department, said to the Daily News.

“The clerk annotated the paper work as $1 bail on the gun case correctly but mistakenly indicated ROR on the attempted murder case,” said Lucian Chalfen, a rep for the Office of Court Administration. “We will be addressing the clerical error from a personnel and training perspective.”

The news comes after last week a clerical error caused the releasee of 26-year-old Christopher Buggs, who in on trial for a 2018 Brooklyn murder.
