As we previously shared, on the morning of March 1, the singer died at 63. She was involved in a reported car crash in Alabama. Angie Stone’s fans received the tragic news via a Facebook post her daughter, Diamond Stone, shared. Earlier in the day, she posted a cryptic message saying, “On the road. Mind racing. Keep me and my family in your prayers.” Hours later, she confirmed the heartbreaking rumors, writing, “My mommy is gone.”

Stone welcomed Diamond with Rodney “Lil’ Rodney Cee” Stone. Stone also shares a son, Michael D’Angelo Archer II, with singer D’Angelo. Angie Stone’s representative, Deborah R. Champagne, also confirmed the news to journalist Loren Lorosa. Champagne claimed Stone had just finished a performance in Montgomery, AL early Saturday morning before the fatal car accident.

Stone and her team were on their way to Baltimore, Maryland. She was scheduled to perform during CIAA weekend. Reportedly, Stone spoke with her publicist at 9:12 p.m. EST, just before her final show, confirming she would be in Baltimore. That was the last time they spoke. In addition to her hit “Brotha,” Angie Stone also sang unforgettable tracks like: “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” “No More Rain (In This Cloud),” and “I Wanna Thank Ya (featuring Snoop Dogg).”

Angie Stone’s Family Remembers Late Singer With Heartfelt Instagram Post

On Monday (March 4), Angie Stone’s team posted an official statement on her Instagram page. The post was soundtracked by her 2001 hit song “Brotha.” The message reads:

“It is with heavy hearts that the children of the R&B singer Angie Stone along with her extended family want to thank you all for your love and well wishes during what is an extremely difficult time.

Angie was an example for Black women and girls everywhere. Angie also loved and championed for Black men with her Number One Hit entitled “Brotha.” Angie Stone was a pioneer of rap music that began with a female rap trio, “The Sequence,” and ultimately led to her solo career that defined Neo Soul.

Diamond and Michael along with the rest of Angie’s family want to thank you for reaching out, but also asked that you respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of their beloved mother.

Angie Stone believed in giving back to her fans in the community with her foundation “Angel Stripes, the Angie Stone Foundation.” Recently, Angie was also attending college for ministry. Her love of God and her faith led her to have a deep desire to share her belief in God and bring more people to Christ.

Currently, funeral services are still being planned along with the memorial service so that Angie’s fans can honor her life, music, and legacy. Even though Angie is no longer with us physically her family wants you to keep her legacy alive.”
