Brad Pitt is reportedly convinced that his ex-wife Angelina Jolie is trying to smear his reputation by once again bringing up allegations of domestic abuse in their former relationship. On Tuesday, Jolie filed a cross-complaint as she continues to fight her former flame over their French winery, Château Miraval, after “improperly” selling her share to a rival competitor that has left Pitt infuriated.
In one of the court papers excerpts, Jolie alleges that in September 2016, the same month she would file for divorce, Pitt “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” during a flight back from France to California. The alleged incident became so volatile on the plane, with Pitt allegedly pouring beer over Jolie’s head while being subject to endless verbal abuse during the trip.
But sources close to Pitt tell TMZ that they’re convinced Jolie has it out for her ex by launching a smear campaign against him, despite the fact that these allegations she’s made about him have been dismissed by authorities in the past due to lack of evidence. The repetitive narrative that Pitt is a child abuser and wife beater is said to have taken a huge toll on the relationship he shares with his six children, so much that he now has “limited” contact with them “because of her campaign of alienation.”
Jolie’s explosive claims in newly-filed court docs went on to reveal, “At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children.” Her legal team recounted how the “Salt” star tried to diffuse the tension between the kids and their dad by grabbing Pitt from behind to stop him from potentially harming one of their children.
“To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seats, injuring Jolie’s back and elbow,” the documents continued to reveal. “The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
As previously revealed, an investigation was performed the same month of the alleged incident by the FBI, but officials opted not to pursue criminal charges against the “Fight Club” star, though the actor did later admit to having battled a lengthy alcohol problem.
