LSU basketball stars Angel Reese and Flau’Jae Johnson appeared on the Breakfast Club this Monday morning to talk about their history-making moment winning the 2023 NCAA National Championship

While speaking about all the love they have been receiving after beating Iowa, the girls were asked if any big celebrities have slid in their DM’s. The hilarious question made Reese reveal that Drake and Future actually messaged her. But she made it clear “They just congratulated me.”

However, Charlemagne noted, “That’s how it starts,” he joked. DJ Envy then chimed in to say to Reese, “Drake is gonna say ‘yo, you know I got a basketball court at the crib.’ Did he say that yet?” Reese bursted out laughing, seemingly answering Envy’s question.

Further into their great conversation, Reese was asked how she feels about Shaq labeling her the greatest player to ever come out of LSU. Although she was happy to hear the Hall of Famer talking so highly about her, she said she really didn’t think she worked long enough to deserve that title. “I called him after that,” Reese revealed. “I was like, ‘You know how much pressure you just put on me? You know how much?’ He was like ‘I don’t give a f**k.’ I was like, ‘Alright, Unc.’”

Reese went on to explain why she didn’t feel that Shaq‘s compliment was appropriate. “I feel like I haven’t done nothing yet, so I told him, ‘Don’t even say that yet,’” she said. “I won a championship, but I just don’t feel like I’ve done enough. I don’t think I’ve done enough.” She confessed she didn’t even comprehend “how much weight it holds” to win a championship.

As we we previously reported, following her big win, Shaq spoke about Reese’s talent on his podcast. He said, “She’s probably the greatest athlete ever to come out of LSU sports. You heard it here first,” O’Neal said on ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq.’ “Male and female. Ever.”

Further into her interview on The Breakfast Club, Reese admitted that Shaq’s comments would just make more sense if she continues to lead the women’s basketball team to success. “If I go into year two and I dominate, we dominate, yeah, OK,” she acknowledged of future accolades she may receive. “I feel like another championship and maybe Player of the Year would hold more weight.”

Either way, she’s thankful but even motivated to get back on the court and continue to show everyone what she’s made of!
