The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism raided the media personality’s home in Pipera after they were accused of kidnapping two girls. According to the Romanian news outlet Libertatea, a video of Andrew and Tristan Tate being escorted out of their home was shared on social media, and Andrew has previously been accused of human trafficking.

Andrew was accused of human trafficking in April 2022, but he claimed the accusations stemmed from a swatting incident. Swatting occurs when an internet user calls an emergency number to falsely report a dangerous situation at the swatting victims’ residence. Tate claims that he was not arrested at the time.
