Former Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum was caught on Friday in a hotel room with crystal meth and another man who overdosed on the drug.

According to the New York Post, authorities identified the man as Travis Dyson, a gay male escort from the website RentMen.com. On the profile, he listed himself as a “pornstar performer” and offered several services. Dyson and the former mayor were found together in a drugged state at the Mondrian South Beach and officers say they did not arrest Gillum but he was unable to communicate due to being in “an inebriated state.”

Gillum released a statement in light of the situation and said he was drug-free when the raid occurred:

“I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends. While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines. I apologize to the people of Florida for the distraction this has caused our movement.”

Recently, Gillum campaigned to be the governor for Florida under the Democratic party.
