Best Actress nominee Andra Day shared her thoughts on Juneteenth becoming a national holiday at the #BETAwards Radio Room before #CulturesBiggestNight.

Andra Day sat down with host Big Tigger and WPGC 95.5’s DJ Flex to speak on the importance of Juneteenth and why we shouldn’t be subjected to only celebrating America’s Independence Day. “I feel like it’s important for America to recognize it’s almost insensitive for you to force everybody to celebrate July 4th,” she added.

Day also broke down the brief history of Juneteenth and emphasized how it played an important part in her life.
