Amy Schumer Changed Son’s Name After Realizing It Sounded Like ‘Gential’
Actor and comedian Amy Schumer, 38, reveals that she and her husband, Chris Fischer, have changed their 11-month-old son’s name after realizing that their initial choice sounded too familiar with “genital.”
On her latest episode of her podcast ‘3 Girls, 1 Keith,’ Schumer says, “It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realized that we, by accident, named our son ‘genital.'” Gene’s middle name was a tribute to the couple’s friend, comedian Dave Attell.

Also, Schumer’s ‘Trainwreck‘ co-star Claudia O’Doherty was a guest on the show and was the first to point out the snafu, stating, “My mom pointed that out to me, actually. My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital.'”
When going to change his name, Schumer says they ended up going with David as his middle name, considering its advantages still pay tribute to her comedian friend, and her is also her father’s middle name.
