Amazon Prime’s Emergency Cast & Crew On Comedy Bringing Light To Racial Inequality & Exclusive Immersive Premiere Experience
The comedic thriller from director Carey Williams and writer KD Davila, is finally heading to our screens via Amazon prime video and let’s just say you are in for a ride. We spoke to the cast and crew ahead of the movie’s premiere.
Emergency follows senior college students Sean (RJ Cyler) and Kunle (Donald Elise Watkins) who want to make a legendary party tour that will land them on the hall of fame, but things take a turn for the worse after an intoxicated white girl is discovered passed out on their floor. Their Latinx roommate, Carlos (Sebastian Chacon), was home and had no idea how she got there. The real emergency starts when these three young men of color begin to panic on how they should handle the situation, as calling the police could lead to consequences for them even though they are completely innocent.
While it is a comedy, Emergency explores the fears and experiences people of color deal with when it comes to everyday life and the bias of police authority. The three friends embark on a journey to get the young girl to the hospital where she can get the help she needs, but everything begins to unravel as they are faced with multiple obstacles on the way there.

While speaking with the cast and crew, we got Williams and Davila’s outlook on how their personal experiences shaped the film and the preparation for filming something heavy by using comedy to convey the message. We also spoke to the leading men, who shared insights on their bond during filming and how they would respond if they were faced with this real-life emergency.
Emergency is definitely winning and checks all the boxes and explores the desperate situations POC get into due to police forces’ racial bias, and how such a simple moment can escalate and change lives forever.
We also caught up with the entire Prime team at the immersive Los Angeles premiere, which followed up with an immersive after-party at the Lighthouse immersive that followed the same journey the boys went on, and we had to make it through four parties, all with different themed food beverage and photo activations. Make your way through Blackout, Green Room, Equinox, and Underground. The night was almost as long as the boys’ experience!
