Amanda Bynes Reportedly Detained For Mental Health Evaluation 2 Months After Release From Facility

Just two months after being released from a mental health facility, Amanda Bynes was reportedly detained for another mental health evaluation.

In late March, we shared that Nickelodeon alum Amanda Bynes was placed on a psychiatric hold after she was found walking through the streets of Downtown Los Angeles naked. At the time, TMZ reported that the then-36-year-old former actress had walked up to a stranger’s car, bringing them to a halt in the early morning hours, and told them she was suffering a psychotic episode.

The publication said she would soon call law enforcement herself for help. When she arrived to a nearby police station, officials had her undergo a mental evaluation test, which proved that she was unwell and needed to placed on a 5150 hold. While the ‘Hairspray‘ star did not appear to suffer any injuries, she remained hospitalized for about a week.

It was also reported that Bynes’ parents, Lynn, and Rick, who previously had her under a nine-year-long court-appointed conservatorship, had no plans of putting her back into one, despite claims that she had been “abusing” prescription drugs.

Bynes remained hospitalized for about two additional weeks after her first week admitted as a result of her incident in DTLA. She even brought in her 37th birthday in a facility. According to TMZ, they updated that Bynes told officials that she was not yet ready to leave and return to life at home.

A week after bringing in her 37th birthday, it was reported that Bynes was now ready to leave the mental health facility that she was committed to after being found naked and roaming the streets of Downtown Los Angeles.

It was then updated that Bynes and also the medical staff all agreed that she was healthy enough to get back to her day-to-day life at home. It was also reported that the ‘The Amanda Show‘ star was expected to begin outpatient treatment to ensure that she remains healthy and on a straight path. She was reportedly expected to work with doctors and specialists to continue getting her the help she needs to move forward.

Since being released from the mental health facility in early April, nearly two months later TMZ reports that Bynes has been detained and put through another mental health evaluation in Los Angeles.

On Saturday (June 17), the publication reported that Bynes was placed into police custody again over the weekend. LAPD officers reportedly handcuffed her in the early morning after they received a call about a woman who was in distress. They later learned, that woman was Bynes. During the detainment, witnesses claimed that Bynes remained calm as she was put into the back of one of three police cruisers on the scene.

The publication noted that it remains unclear as to whether the former actress was picked up outside of her home, or if she was found on the street. However, when she arrived to a local police station, a professional medical unit was reportedly on standby, ready to run tests on her and see if she need further professional treatment, like being placed under a 5150 hold again.
