Amanda Bynes’ Parents Have No Plans To Put Her In A New Conservatorship Despite Claims She’s Been ‘Abusing’ Prescription Drugs

New information concerning Amanda Bynes’ psychotic episode on Sunday is emerging, with multiple reports alleging that the former Nickelodeon star had been “abusing” prescription drugs prior to roaming naked through the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Sunday. The drugs are also believed to have contributed to Bynes’ drastic weight loss, with The Blast claiming that the 36-year-old currently weighs less than 100 lbs, though it remains unclear whether the prescribed medication is what’s been helping Bynes not to spiral out of control.

As we previously reported, the “She’s The Man” actress stopped an incoming vehicle in DTLA after having walked through the city without any clothes. She told the person in the car that she was coming down from a psychotic episode and later called 911 in an effort to avoid her mental state from derailing any further. Bynes has been very honest in the past about her former addiction to Adderall, which is a stimulant drug that’s most commonly given to people dealing with attention deficit hyperactivity. It can also enhance a person’s mood, suppress appetite and stimulate the central nervous system.

As for Bynes’parents, Lynn, and Rick, the pair have no plans of putting their daughter back in a conservatorship after the previous nine-year-long court-ordered arrangement was terminated last year at the request of Bynes and her legal team. According to TMZ, while Lynn and Rick are both “deeply concerned” about the California native and the recent breakdown she suffered over the weekend, neither of them feels like they should consider the idea of bringing the conservatorship back — at least not yet. They also credited the fact that Bynes, despite her condition, was fully aware she was in trouble and took it upon herself to find help as soon as she could.

It’s tremendously sad for fans to hear about Bynes continuing to struggle with her mental health, which consequently caused her to halt plans for her anticipated return to the big screen. Back in 2018, Bynes said she had been contemplating returning to her day job as an actress, but shortly after sharing the news, the brunette checked into a mental health facility.

She was most recently making headlines for the drams between her and ex-fiancé Paul Mitchell, who separated and got back together on a handful of occasions. But by the summer of 2022, it appeared as if the couple had finally had enough of one another and called it quits for good, according to E! News.

And while she’s believed to have been living by herself out in LA, there’s been no reason for family members to feel Bynes was in danger considering she had been doing just fine since the conservatorship ended last year. Following a mental evaluation at a nearby police station, it was determined that Bynes would need to be placed on a 5150 hold, which usually last for 72 hours but can be extended depending on the person’s state.
